How to Read a COA
Lab tested CBD products
When you're choosing a third party lab tested CBD product, review the Certificate of Analysis and look for these key CBD lab tested results:
CBD vs THC: What is the amount of CBD and THC? Is the same as what is printed on the label? Verify the THC content is less than 0.3% — the legal limit to be considered a hemp plant.
Microbes: Review the microbes result to confirm the CBD product is free from harmful mold or bacteria on the hemp plant at time of harvest.
Pesticides: Organic products will be able to prove this claim on the lab analysis. While pesticides may appear in trace amounts in all plants, the amount present in each sample should be minimal. If it’s not, that should raise a red flag.
Chemical solvents: Look for CBD products extracted using CO2. CBD oils extracted using chemical solvents like alcohol, formaldehyde, or butane can be carcinogenic and cause dangerous side effects.
CBG, CBN and other cannabinoids: Isolate CBD product COAs should not list other cannabinoids, terpenes, etc. Additional cannabinoids present indicates the product is full or broad spectrum hemp extract.
